3:Symphony No 7 in A, Op 92
Note: A stirring programme from Louis Langrée. Egmont makes a tempestuous start, and the blazing energy and drive of Beethoven’s symphony closes the concert. Tchaikovsky’s utterly Romantic concerto brings to mind the world of his great ballets – especially Swan Lake. It’s performed by James Ehnes, one of today’s great violinists and winner of a 2008 Grammy for his recent outstanding concertos CD.
