Note: This colourful programme full of sensuous and impressionistic French music, is directed by the incomparable Gordan Nikolitch. The concert opens with Syrinx a piece for solo flute which gives the flautist great freedom for emotional expression, and is followed by two seductive and poetic works Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro and Debussy's Danse sacree et danse profane. The second half of the programme is devoted to one of the most sublime chamber works ever written, Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet.

At 6.30pm Martin Harlow will discuss the mysteries of Mozart's 'Stadler' quintet.
