Five:15 is Scottish Opera’s five year research and development project to find the next generation of opera composers, writers and directors with the ultimate aim of developing a new full-length opera.
With an exciting line-up of Scottish-based creative talent on board, Five:15 looks certain to repeat the overwhelming success of last year, which saw the entire run sell out well in advance.
This year's teams are: Director Nicholas Bone and composer David Fennessy; Playwright Zinnie Harris and Edinburgh- based composer John Harris; Glasgow writer/GP Dr Margaret McCartney and returning composer Gareth Williams; Herald writer Amy Parker and composer/lecturer Dr Martin Dixonl; Novelist Louise Welsh and composer Stuart MacRae.
All five fifteen minute long operas will be presented at each performance with players from The Orchestra of Scottish Opera conducted by Scottish Opera's Head of Music, Derek Clark. Five:15 is sponsored by Scottish Opera's Sponsor and Consulting Partner Accenture. Major support is received from The Binks Trust and The Scottish Opera Endowment Trust along with in-kind support from Òran Mór.
